AS A YOUNG ADULT, I craved the sensory stimuli of travel; to explore the world, gain new experiences, check off my bucket list. “Girl, don’t keep running around and moving,” my mother would gently advise, “stop and smell the roses.”
The Isle of Skye, in Scotland. Exploring the world, gaining new experiences, checking off my bucket list.
"My mother would gently advise, ‘stop and smell the roses.’"
But roses did nothing for me, at least it did not entice me to stop.
View from my apartment. The smell of tropical heat reminds me of home.
Rather, stepping out the doors of Changi Airport to the smell of tropical heat, a whiff of curry chicken even before I pushed those front doors of my parents’ home open, the billowing fresh laundry that fills the whole space, were the things that made me stop, made me take a deep breath in to remind me that I am home.
The Orchid Island scent is designed by SCENE SHANG as a tribute to Singapore, Our Orchid Island. A sensuous, refined blend of orchid, violet leaves, lily of the valley, cashmere musk and amber. Be welcomed home together with the Eggshell Smart Diffuser.
“The smell of tropical heat, a whiff of curry chicken even before I pushed those front doors of my parents’ home open, the billowing fresh laundry that fills the whole space… made me take a deep breath in to remind me that I am home.”
The home that I have made my own is now filled with my favourite essential oil scents and it is the familiar scent that greets me before I push my main doors open or lingers on my clothes when I leave the house.
My home. A familiar scent greets me before I push my main doors open.
When I can travel again, when we can all travel again, I want to bring that along with me as a gentle voice in my head, “Girl, stop and smell… the scent of home.”
Yours, Pamela Co-Founder | SCENE SHANG
