Designed by Wendy Chua and Gustavo Maggiotogether with SCENE SHANG, a chess set made of brass, machined and polished by local auto parts maker Hup Yick. Each piece is made by hand, by one of the last industrial craftsmen in Singapore. The parts are cut out of solid brass pieces, shaped into its asymmetry for a tactile memory to a simple game. In the auto spare parts community, it is very collaborative by nature of the trade, drawing a parallel with the way Chinese chess is played.
