A delightful set of brass paperweights brought to life by 69 year-old metal lathe Singaporean craftsman Mr Yee Chin Hoon of Hup Yick Engineering Works. 

Handcrafted from solid brass, each piece is handmade in Singapore and of highly limited quantities as the maker is due to retire.

Get a paperweight for yourself or your loved one as an appreciation for the sunset industries of Singapore and a tribute to our last diminishing craftsmen.

DETAILS

Designed by Wendy Chua and Gustavo Maggio together with SCENE SHANG, a chess set made of brass, machined and polished by local auto parts maker Hup Yick. Each piece is made by hand, by one of the last industrial craftsmen in Singapore. The parts are cut out of solid brass pieces, shaped into its asymmetry for a tactile memory to a simple game. In the auto spare parts community, it is very collaborative by nature of the trade, drawing a parallel with the way Chinese chess is played.

Limited Edition, special engraving on chess board upon request. 

Debut at Singaplural 2017, March.

Made in Singapore.
